Professional Discourtesy

Yesterday morning I came into work feeling sad about personal things but resolved to focus on work. Fifteen minutes after arriving, I got a call from Dragon Lady, demanding to know why certain things she had asked me to do while I was out sick had not yet been completed. I explained that I had been working for the 5th year associate on another project for Dragon Lady. Dragon Lady made some unintelligible nasty noises, demanded to know when I'd be able to complete the other assignments, and, after I responded that I would turn to them immediately and complete them in a matter of hours, hung up on me.

I can't tell you how often this happens. I sat still in disbelief for a moment staring at the receiver in my hand that had gone dead, hearing the echo of the click of her hanging up the phone. Then, slowly,I hung up the phone, thought about what an insane creature she is, and turned back to my work.

I guess things could be a lot worse. Instead of working for her, I could be her.

very true, very true....I know how difficult this is on you....but imagine how unhappy a person she must be to treat people this way. Things could always be worse.

Hm, she sounds like a real [insert very bad language here]

We should actually really pity her, because she is probably feeling very bad about her life and herself - it's usually the reason for that behaviour. I'ts no excuse, but an explanation.

I admire you that can go on working for her. If it were me I would prbably too, but one day EXPLODE and that day wouldn't be fun to be near me at all.... *lol*

I usually have an eye to eye talk with that kind of persons and ask them what's the matter. Very often it helps, but not garanteed.

But it's a pain in the *censorship*

Thanks Ladies!! I appreciate the support.

Mrs. Lifecruiser, I have to hold in explosions often, let me tell you, and unfortunately, this is one situation where I feel pretty confident that an eye-to-eye chat would have severe negative consequences for me. I wish it was not the case, but some things just are as they are. I'll make my point by walking out the door in...99 days!!!
