Thursday Thirteen #29

Thirteen Reasons We Should Continue, and Can*, Thursday Thirteen (Even Without Our Fearless Leaders)

1) We have the headers.

2) We have a large community and know where to find each other from the TT blogroll.

3) We can also find each other on the technorati site by searching for Thursday Thirteen.

4) It's fun to think about 13 things about myself to share each week.

5) It's even more fun to read 13 things about everyone else each week.

6) It encourages creativity and reflection.

7) It's challenging and it gives my weeks a certain welcome structure.

8) It's something I've looked forward to for the last 29 weeks.

9) It's given me an even greater sense of community within the blogsphere.

10) It's the internet, which means it's an unregulated free-for-all, and we can continue to utilize it for our purposes, even without our fearless leaders to organize and encourage us.

11) It was such a great idea, and so successful; it would be a waste to let it end.

12) I'm going to miss it if we all stop doing our TTs.

13) It's brought me in contact with so many people that I've really enjoyed getting to know, and about whom I want to learn more.
DON'T LET TT STOP!!!!
* I wrote this post after learning a few minutes ago that this was the last week of TT. Since then, I've done some more research and it appears that the creators of TT are attempting to sell their creation, and do not want people to use the TT copyright, which I can understand. My point in this post was simply to say how much I have enjoyed this community and I hope that we could all find some way to continue it. Out of curiosity though, I would be interested to know whether this was a business decision. Was TT created with the intention of selling it? Does anyone know?

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It's easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

I am new to the TT world. This marks week # 3 for me. My posting is all about books. I agree that this has been a wonderful meme, however, the site owner has made it quite clear that we can't continue TT as she owns the copyright. That being said, I'm sure there people interested in creating a new meme that follows the same principles. We could start a petition to save the TT meme!

Wow, 29 weeks. That's a pretty heavy commitment.

According to the TT website, it looks like someone may be buying the rights to it. Even so, I'll keep doing them too, cuz it's my fav meme.

Oh, we're gonna need an update on how your day in court was, sister!

Thursday Thirteen has come to an end.
I have enjoyed my visits here and consider us friends.
Thank you for sharing your thirteens with me.
The comments you left me filled me with glee.
It is hard to believe it is really true.
I am trying very hard to not be blue.
Happy TT'ing!

No, I never created it with the intention of selling it. I can assure you that I am weighing this option with a very heavy heart as I have never received any money through advertising or other venues for maintainting or creating the Thursday Thirteen. I have poured my own time, money, heart and soul into this endeavor and am sad to have to let it go. I am considering selling rights because I believe in the community ties are very strong and would love to see it continue on, but it is my creation and as the owner of the copyright, I need to make this decision based on the best interest of the community as well as the time and work that I've invested to develop it into what it is today.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

Whoa. LeeAnn answered before I could. I think she's done a hell of a job and that this isn't the sort of thing some marketer could have come up with. Organic is best, especially on the Net.

I'll miss it, too. Hope you'll come visit West of Mars, Buttercup (and Bean); coming here has been a treat.

I don't know the particulars...whether TT has actually been copyrighted or the domain name has just been bought. Whatever...it's been fun...I hate to see it end!

My fingers are crossed that something works out! I remember when Leanne and MommaK first started it. I got to know a lot of new bloggers through TT!

Hey you,

I need a trial update when you get a chance. I sure hope that it isn't still dragging on for everyone's sake.

The day that my divorce was supposed to be final, my attorney's office called and said that they had absolutely no file on us. They had mis filed it under some crazy name but, regardless, I was still married longer than I wanted to be. That was a really weird day.

Hope yesterday wasn't the last TT :\

I dont think you can call it a "thursday Thirteen" and do the whole techno tags. However, I do not think that you can be stopped from putting up a list of things on a day with somewhere between 10 to 15 things in your list. Since its a personal blog, there is no expectation of it being read by others. Thats where it gets sticky on what you can or cant say.

ok I might as well just post my own thoughts in my blogs as opposed to taking up your time.

Trial Trial Trial

Dude, that bites! I hadn't heard of this. I don't do TT within the constructs of the "community," really. I just use a banner and do thirteen things. If they go away maybe I can do Friday Fourteen? ;)
