Paunchy, Bald Men Do Not Deserve Eye Candy Draped On Their Arm

I don't think I slept at all last night, so I'm seriously struggling this morning ... er, afternoon. Instead of getting the watered down coffee that my firm serves, I splurged and bought a tall, i.e. small, starbuck's coffee. It had absolutely zero effect. My head still feels like it's stuffed with wet cement and my eyelids are drooping dangerously. I feel like I'm drugged. I kept waking up last night and had all of these nightmares. I blame it on emotional turmoil.

Thankfully, Team Dragon Lady is giving me a break this morning, so I've been working on crafting carefully scripted thank you notes to the individuals with whom I interviewed on Friday. This should be simple, but it is actually quite hard. You want to sound enthusiastic, smart, and unique, but not desperate or like you're trying too hard.

Although I'm too tired to do it justice at the moment, I was happy to see the premier of Season 3 of Project Runway last night, although I thought many of the creations were quite dreadful. That silly person who made the basket hat must go. The ladies disappointed me, but hopefully they'll step up during the next few weeks.

I also watched the first episode of HBO's Rome, of which I had heard rave reviews. It's pretty good, although I'm not exactly sure why all the men of Rome are fat, balding and gouty, while the women are all gorgeous sex goddesses. It makes one remember what women of the ages have had to put up with for centuries.

Speaking of which, for any of you who have seen Lucky Louie (yes, I love my HBO), I want to share how completely and utterly appalled I am by the ridiculous pairing of couples on that show. Louie most certainly is lucky, because his wife is a freaking babe compared to his paunchy speckled ass. But even more horrific is Louie's friend. Not only is he paunchy. He is also covered with frizzy gray hair, horrid stubble, and basically has not one attractive feature whatsoever. His wife, meanwhile, has perfect skin, an amazing figure, gorgeous hair, and is always perfectly made up in heels and cute outfits. WTF??

I'm so sick of TV's not-so-hidden agenda to convince men that no matter how disgusting they look or how much they let themselves go, they are entitled to have a piece of eye candy draped on their arm. It makes me sick.

On that note, I'm headed out the door for another cup of coffee.

I love Rome! Love it. Oh, I just can't wait until new episodes come out. I'm completely and totally in love with Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus) and Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo). Yummy.

Good luck with the thank you notes!

Don't you know? All women who are not completely and totally perfect in every way are EVIL and therefore do not deserve to have leading roles on television. I learned this recently after buying a book of Grimms' Fairytales for $.50. Almost all the villians are ugly women (and usually witches, "steps" or both). And all the good women are incredibly beautiful.

Ladies, I love the responses. Yeah! You don't know how pleasant it is to check into my blog and find comments. It's a lovely break.

Bubbles, you are of course right. But at least in fairy tales you have beautiful prince meets beautiful girl. On these stupid shows (King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, Lucky Louie, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Simpsons, etc.) the women are still all good looking and the men are atrocious. Most of them are absolutely unkissable, let alone fuckable. Ewe...

It just pisses me off b/c it perpetuates this whole notion that men don't have to do ANYTHING in terms of grooming. Men can walk around scruffy, have unibrows, and let their stomachs get big and fat and still expect and FEEL ENTITLED to have a hot girlfriend. It makes me freaking livid.

Bananarama - Wear what you're comfortable in. I too despise the whole rich ugly man with young trophy wife thing. How pathetic, on both sides, can you get?

Wordnerd - WEEDS? I'm missing something.
